So I'm using an old Pentium 4 setup until I can get something better. Get this it uses DDR2-3200. Hard to find type of memory. So I was curious if DDR2-4200 would work. By the way does anyone have any memory they can part with? I'm only running with 512MB right now.

Starkers, thanks for the offer. However my hard drive runs on SATA.

Not to worry, mate, I'm just glad that RND was able to assist with the RAM.  Hopefully somebody will be able to come up with a SATA drive to help out.

I was gonna buy an SSD for my lappy, and send him my lappy HDD, but the truck quit on me and now I'm having to use my money to fix it.  [e digicons]:'([/e]

You can't help that, so hopefully somebody else will pitch in and lend a hand.  I already handed out the last of the SATA drives I had.  All I have now are some IDE's.... which BTW, can be converted to SATA with a relatively inexpensive [$10 - $15] adapter/card.

Now there's an idea... how about somebody donates an old IDE they no longer need, and kona gets the adapter to convert it to SATA.  If nobody in the US can or will do it, I have a 160 gig Seagate IDE that I could post, then all that would be needed is the IDE to SATA adapter.

In fact, kona, if nobody else offers and you can't afford an adapter, either, I'll get you an adapter to go with it as well.  Just PM me if this would help you out and I'll start sorting out the necessary steps, okay!

Good on ya, matey, I got it and have replied, so check your inbox as I will need some details.

It may take a little while coming from Oz but I'll order the adapter today and will post off a package when I've got it all together.  Hopefully it don't take too long and gets there in time to help you out of trouble.

Sweet!!!

Well I didn't see anyone else offering to help but you, so I felt the need to do something to chime in and assist. It may not be the latest and greatest SATA arrangement for him, but for the time being it will help kona out of trouble. So yeah, I'm only too glad to help out.

Had it been a few days earlier I had a 250gb Seagate SATA doing nothing but laying around collecting dust, then a nephew needed a rig built for work related studies, so that's where it went.  Oh well, the 160gb and adapter will do the job.  The drive hasn't had a lot of use and the adapter has never been used... was still in its unopened package when I discovered it amongst my bits n' pieces.  I'm guessing that I ordered it some time ago but ended up not needing to use it, which saves time waiting on the one I ordered last night... not that it'll go astray as I have some other IDE's to marry it to when another family member/friend is in need.

I like to help out when I can, and I know that kona has hit some hard times, so it just felt right to do something for a community member currently down on his luck.  Besides, you're a pretty top bloke yourself, always the true community member and willing to help out when you can, so many thanks to you for all that you do.

That would be a SATA drive and it may just help kona out some.  The drive I am sending is only a 160gb to replace a dying 200gb, so if you were to send the 60gb it would give him 20 gigs more storage than he had.  I'm sure kona would appreciate the help, so if you'd like to help send him a PM to work out the details.

At least you tried, and that's the thing.  It may not have been the right type of RAM but you made the effort and tried to help, which counts for a lot in my book.

Thanks, mate.

BTW, I sent you a PM which requires an answer, if you'd be so kind as to check your inbox.  Thanks.
