I'll admit I have been a long time Firefox user. However I have noticed lately that Firefox has become more and more bloated and still has a memory leak. There are even sites I visit that Firefox will not work correctly. Wincustomize is one, Facebook is another. On Firefox, Wincustomize takes forever to load. On Chrome, a matter of seconds. On Firefox, I have issues when scrolling down my news feed on Facebook. Firefox just freezes up. I thought newer hardware would fix that, but nope. Even with extensions disabled Firefox has issues with Facebook. I have no issues at all with Facebook on Chrome.

So my question is this: Is Chrome better, faster than Firefox these days?

I had much the same problem, however, after several months of using just Chrome, I notice it is no longer as fast as it was either. Perhaps web browsers slow down with use just like computers?

Think it always has been, Chrome is very fast. I've stuck with Pale Moon because of NoScript and it doesn't track you. Otherwise I would of swapped long ago ...

Not sure what you guys are doing to your Firefox...but I've been using it since 2003 and never noticed any slowdown with it...for me it flies anywhere I go...except here some times.

I've tried everything available at some point, and Chrome is the fastest most reliable one I have used. I even used tabbed browsing on Chrome, which I never did on any other browser.

LMFAO!

I used firefox for a long time and refused to use anything, but like you i noticed that it was becoming cumbersome and bulky to use. It's performance wasn't great not bad but not good either. I then tried chrome and initially didn't like it that much but it was a heck of a lot faster. Now i can't even think of going back to firefox, i've been using chrome for about a year now and it's still 10x faster then firefox. The key with chrome and most likely firefox as well is the number of plugins and stuff you have installed. Some of those will kill performance and if you have multiple then your asking for slug speed.

@ Jafo -  Ouch.

I prefer Chrome myself--not only for the speed, but also the features.

Chrome has been far less stable for me that FF, in the time that I used it. I also didn't like the interface, and missed my tabs on the bottom. So I'm an exclusive FF user.

It seems that the latest updates are more stable on my computer

rahal ...I'm not sure the relevance of the image.

My 'end of the woods' is Australia.  Introduced 'vermin' have decimated hundreds of native fauna species.

The only extras I have installed are "NoScript" & "Adblock Plus" and like I said...no problems here with Firefox at all.
