Not sure everyone knows but for the longest time I was using a All-In-One HP computer. I was old, made around 2012. it had a dual-core Pentium G850 CPU @ 2.2 GHz, 4GB of DDR3, 500 GB 5400 RPM hard drive, and barely ran Windows 10. I upgraded the system with a 256 GB SSD and it ran decent enough, but I figured now was a good time to upgrade my computer to something better and newer. The only saving grace the old computer has was a 23" screen. I wanted to go back to a laptop, so I got a HP. It has a 10th Gen dual-core Intel Core I3 @ 1.2 Ghz with a speed boost up to 3.3 GHz and hyper-threading, 8 GB of DDR4, and a 256 GB SSD. 15.6" screen.

Not quite used to it yet...

Pros:
* 10th gen CPU - but I see no difference from my old Pentium
* The newest and fastest DDR4 memory
* M.2 SSD drive
* 8 GB of RAM - never had more than 4 in any system
* Very snappy with booting, task switching, and loading web pages

Cons:
* Flimsy - it's very thin and light, flexes quite easy
* No DVD drive
* No matter what setting I choose the display is too bright, the whites are not white enough and the blacks are not dark enough
* Crappy PC speakers - but it has Bluetooth so that's almost not an issue
* Keyboard has a slight rattle to it
* This CPU and GPU do not want to play my old Command & Conquer games
* Only 2 USB A ports and 1 USB C port
* Windows 10....

Nah, that was pre Windows 10. Built in Windows 10 System Restore does the job really good. No vendor stuff any more after that except the needed drivers. You have a vanilla system after that.

Jafo this notebook only has one partition. It came that way.

Good for you, I also plan to upgrade my PC since my current PC is already 2 years old and quite outdated.

Wow this PC has some issues. Sure, it's fast enough, but I can't get all my games to play. Quite sad. It refuses to play Command And Conquer Generals. Not too surprised, that games is really, really old. It is very picky about what hardware I use, has to be the old Pentium 4 era stuff to run correctly. The thing that gets me is my Hoyle Card Games. Refuses to run full screen and I have yet to find a workaround. Same thing with my copy of The Game Of Life. Everything else runs just fine, just have to get used to a small screen. Coming from a 22" down to a 15" inch is hurting the eyes.

Pertinacity

Outdated don't mean to say it's not good anymore..... that older PCs are no good.  A newer PC may be a bit faster here and there, but if your current PC does all you need it to fast enough, then you may as well save the money for something you really need.

I update home builds as newer tech supercedes my current build, but that's just me... I have to have the best and newest tech as soon as I'm able to afford it.  However, what I have serves me well enough that I plan to no longer build any more PCs.  I used to enjoy building and servicing PCs, but with arthritis and stuff it's getting to be more than I can manage these days.
