I think the subject has been beaten to death already. Use whatever works for you. Neither one is perfect.

I agree completely with WebGizmos, however I can tell you that writing code for IE absolutely *SUCKS*!! It's implementation of DOM is piss poor and completely inconsistent. I really hope MS wakes up and makes 7.0 a browser worth using because 6.x is pathetic!! I'm not saying that Firefox is perfect but it is definitely more predictable when creating pages that use lots of DHTML to manipulate the page content using DOM methods.

Some of that I have to say is BS, plus there is no proof.

I agree with f0r3.

Well what an impartial comparison of the two browser that was *rolls eyes*

Actions speak louder than words and I'm loving using "my" browser. Not saying which because it really doesn't matter.

One point I would make though that impresses me is that IE is bundled with windows and is now at V6. Firefox is still V1 and you have to go and find it. With such a leap in dev time and an assured userbase it is nothing short of impressive that Firefox has caught on as much as it has.

What will be interesting is seeing IE full release 7 and watching Firefox play catch up to that. What we will have there is competition that will surely drive both browsers onto better things. Great for us users, no matter which one you prefer.

I sure hope you're right.. I also hope that MS has given up on proprietary non-standard extensions to things people use every day.

I love Firefox. I have had problems with IE for years, prompting my switch to Firefox, and I've not had a single problem with it yet. Period. That's all that matters to me.

I think it's actually hard to compare the two, since Firefox 1.5 is relatively new, while IE6 is 5 years old or so. I think. Sure, Microsoft could have updated it with more than security patches, but when IE7 comes out, it will be a more fair comparison.

But I do agree that competition will improve all the browsers.

Kona,
I have often wondered why you insist on poking the rattlesnakes like you do.
It seems like either you instigate conflict by starting threads like this, or you inject a seemingly random "opinion" into most threads that have the word Firefox in them. However, you have served reasonable purpose with this one I must say.
After reading the link in #8, I have made the decision to retire Avant and Maxthon and thus convert to Firefox.

You won't regret it Phoon and if you need some ideas for good extensions I'm sure folks can help out. Honestly, the extensions make FF so much more than just another browser.. Hope you like FF!!

Wow, I just went to the link in #8 and I gotta say anyone that would use the Firefox Myths page as proof of IE's superiority is sorely in need of a reality check. It really is sad how some people will use any trick in the book to try and prove a point.

#8 was a good read, even though it was long.

I guess Kona probably regrets posting this. Kind of shot himself in the foot with this one.

Still experimenting. Actually, the tabs are what I mainly use it for.
I have noticed something strange however.

I own RoboForm (and just love it). Using the AI Roboform Toolbar extension (ver 6.5.9).
When I move my browser window around, the RF toolbar has to play catch up. Like it moves independantly of the browser itself.

Here are the extensions I'm using thus far.

I don't regret posting this thread. I still use IE and think it works better than Firefox.

Phoon: IE7 will have tabs as well.
