So I have this strange issue. I go into settings and choose a custom picture for my lock screen. The next time I wake the computer up from sleeping it still shows a different picture, usually one of the stock photos that come with Windows 10. So I go back into settings and change it again, make sure it's all set, yet the picture never shows up. I've tried this with several pictures, none of them work, it always reverts to one of the stock photos. Not sure what to search for on Google so I though...

This has been driving me nuts. On my main computer I run the latest version of Windows 10. I run a solid black taskbar. No transparency. The taskbar is a good solid true black color with crisp, detailed icons. On the test computer running Windows 11 I use the same settings. Call me crazy, but on 11 the black is not as black as it should be and the icons are not as crisp and detailed. Both machines are the same model, so it's not a hardware or software issue. Has anyone else noticed this? Or is i...

First let me say I KNOW that Windows 11 is in the beta stage. That being said, I'm part of the Windows Insider program. The other day, just to see what the fuss was all about, I installed 11. Other then the fact that is boots faster on my system then 10, I really don't like it. What was the point in moving the icons to the center of the taskbar? Highly annoying. Good thing I was able to move them back to where they belong along the left edge. And the Start menu is a mess. All it is is a place fo...

So I have Office 2007 installed cuz I bought it way back in the day when I was a student. Still works, even on Windows 10. I made the mistake of allowing Windows to update it, but I don't like Office being updated. Works fine without updates. So I went in and removed as many updates as I could, but there are 4 that refuse to be removed. Please tell me there's an easy way, without reinstalling Windows or Office, to remove the updates?

So I bought  myself my first AMD Ryzen notebook. It's a far cry better then my old Pentium setup. Only issue I am having is that after the PC goes to sleep, when I wake it up it gets stuck on the lock screen. I have turned off hibernate and I can't find where to turn off hybrid sleep, it's not listed under the power management options so I guess this PC does not support it. I am running the latest version of Windows 10 and every driver is updated to the latest version. However I am not runn...

So, sadly, I choose to return the new laptop I just bought a few days ago. Thanks to my diabetic eyes I have a very hard time focusing on anything with a 15" monitor, even when I set the fonts to large. Just too bright. Looks like I need glasses but right now all of the labs that make glasses are shutdown due to Covid-19. So long story short I got my money back, went on Craigslist, picked up a 2 year old 17" notebook from a local seller. It's a 8th Gen Core I3 with 8GB of DDR4 RAM. I got it home...

Not sure everyone knows but for the longest time I was using a All-In-One HP computer. I was old, made around 2012. it had a dual-core Pentium G850 CPU @ 2.2 GHz, 4GB of DDR3, 500 GB 5400 RPM hard drive, and barely ran Windows 10. I upgraded the system with a 256 GB SSD and it ran decent enough, but I figured now was a good time to upgrade my computer to something better and newer. The only saving grace the old computer has was a 23" screen. I wanted to go back to a laptop, so I got a HP. It has...

I get these errors every time I try to install the latest Windows 7 updates. Google hasn't revealed much info to how to cure the issue, I've done everything I know how to do to solve it. Any ideas? I'm trying to install updates KB915597, KB4486563 and KB4486565.

My old 500GB Western Digital has been showing signs of dying so I went out and got a 256GB Mushkin Source SSD. What a joke. I see no improved boot up speeds on Windows 7, nor any other improvements over my old drive. Boot times and app start up times are the same. I have made sure TRIM is enabled and the SSD checks out OK. Muskin offer no software to help with speed on the SSD. Thoughts? I'm confused...

So the old desktop finally bit the dust. I bought a new notebook because I'm more mobile then ever. It came with a Intel Pentium N5000 CPU and Intel 605 HD graphics card. The big issue I am having is all my old games will not run full screen. I have tried every combination for compatibility with no luck. The system uses a driver from HP for the Intel video card, I have no access to a Intel video card control panel. Anyone have any ideas how to get these games running? The games I play are Hoyle ...

So my hard drive is on it's last leg. It's so bad it will not run Windows 8 because it has so many bad sectors. I got Ubuntu to run on it - barely. Enough to browse the web. I will be able to replace it on Friday. Question is about my screen. Almost everyday when I bring the system out of sleep mode to watch a bit of YouTube I see 8 to 15 lnes appear the screen near the top. Now the screen works fine after the OS loads up and runs. I was curious if I should buy the SSD I wanted to buy for it or ...

So I finally got tired of the old computer being slow. Saved up some money and bought a new Dell. It has a dual core AMD 7th generation A6 CPU running at 2 GHZ but it can go higher, up to 2.7 GHz when it needs to, 4 GB DDR4, 500 GB hard drive, and Radeon graphics. It seems fast enough for my everyday tasks and games, but barely. No lag on startup, just a slight lag opening apps or new tabs in Chrome. Of course I used my copy of Windows 10 version 1604 and installed it over what came on the compu...

Got me a HP laptop. I bought it early last year. It's been a great little computer. Nice and fast. Until about a week ago when we finally got internet back in the house. It used to wake from sleep and be ready for the password to get to the desktop in less then a second after I moved the mouse to wake it. It now takes up to two minutes. The time between the lock screen and when I can input my password has gone from a few seconds to thirty as well. Recent virus scans by Windows Defender and Trend...

So I'm confused with the Google results, so I will ask here. It's pretty simple, I would like to create a shortcut on my desktop that when clicked will instantly put the computer to sleep. I am running Windows 10 with hibernation turned off. I simply don't know what code to use for the shortcut. LOL.

Due to the fact that I absolutely hate Contana and the way Microsoft collects data about people, I was curious if there was a good way to remove Cortana without harming the way Windows 10 works? Or should I consider buying a copy of 7?
