So, sadly, I choose to return the new laptop I just bought a few days ago. Thanks to my diabetic eyes I have a very hard time focusing on anything with a 15" monitor, even when I set the fonts to large. Just too bright. Looks like I need glasses but right now all of the labs that make glasses are shutdown due to Covid-19. So long story short I got my money back, went on Craigslist, picked up a 2 year old 17" notebook from a local seller. It's a 8th Gen Core I3 with 8GB of DDR4 RAM. I got it home...

Not sure everyone knows but for the longest time I was using a All-In-One HP computer. I was old, made around 2012. it had a dual-core Pentium G850 CPU @ 2.2 GHz, 4GB of DDR3, 500 GB 5400 RPM hard drive, and barely ran Windows 10. I upgraded the system with a 256 GB SSD and it ran decent enough, but I figured now was a good time to upgrade my computer to something better and newer. The only saving grace the old computer has was a 23" screen. I wanted to go back to a laptop, so I got a HP. It has...

I get these errors every time I try to install the latest Windows 7 updates. Google hasn't revealed much info to how to cure the issue, I've done everything I know how to do to solve it. Any ideas? I'm trying to install updates KB915597, KB4486563 and KB4486565.

My old 500GB Western Digital has been showing signs of dying so I went out and got a 256GB Mushkin Source SSD. What a joke. I see no improved boot up speeds on Windows 7, nor any other improvements over my old drive. Boot times and app start up times are the same. I have made sure TRIM is enabled and the SSD checks out OK. Muskin offer no software to help with speed on the SSD. Thoughts? I'm confused...

So the old desktop finally bit the dust. I bought a new notebook because I'm more mobile then ever. It came with a Intel Pentium N5000 CPU and Intel 605 HD graphics card. The big issue I am having is all my old games will not run full screen. I have tried every combination for compatibility with no luck. The system uses a driver from HP for the Intel video card, I have no access to a Intel video card control panel. Anyone have any ideas how to get these games running? The games I play are Hoyle ...

So my hard drive is on it's last leg. It's so bad it will not run Windows 8 because it has so many bad sectors. I got Ubuntu to run on it - barely. Enough to browse the web. I will be able to replace it on Friday. Question is about my screen. Almost everyday when I bring the system out of sleep mode to watch a bit of YouTube I see 8 to 15 lnes appear the screen near the top. Now the screen works fine after the OS loads up and runs. I was curious if I should buy the SSD I wanted to buy for it or ...

So I finally got tired of the old computer being slow. Saved up some money and bought a new Dell. It has a dual core AMD 7th generation A6 CPU running at 2 GHZ but it can go higher, up to 2.7 GHz when it needs to, 4 GB DDR4, 500 GB hard drive, and Radeon graphics. It seems fast enough for my everyday tasks and games, but barely. No lag on startup, just a slight lag opening apps or new tabs in Chrome. Of course I used my copy of Windows 10 version 1604 and installed it over what came on the compu...

Got me a HP laptop. I bought it early last year. It's been a great little computer. Nice and fast. Until about a week ago when we finally got internet back in the house. It used to wake from sleep and be ready for the password to get to the desktop in less then a second after I moved the mouse to wake it. It now takes up to two minutes. The time between the lock screen and when I can input my password has gone from a few seconds to thirty as well. Recent virus scans by Windows Defender and Trend...

So I'm confused with the Google results, so I will ask here. It's pretty simple, I would like to create a shortcut on my desktop that when clicked will instantly put the computer to sleep. I am running Windows 10 with hibernation turned off. I simply don't know what code to use for the shortcut. LOL.

Due to the fact that I absolutely hate Contana and the way Microsoft collects data about people, I was curious if there was a good way to remove Cortana without harming the way Windows 10 works? Or should I consider buying a copy of 7?

Got me a Lenovo laptop here. Not sure of the model, I know it's an IdeaPad 110, but they have many 110 models. This one has the Intel Core I3 with 6 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB hard drive. Anyhow, I'm running Windows 10 and have it set to turn off the display after 2 minutes and sleep after 5 on both plugged in and battery. Now I don't have any programs stopping it from sleeping that I know of. I created a sleep button for my taskbar that works fine, but I would prefer the machine t...

Thought I would ask you experts here as Google really isn't all that helpful or I don't know how to search properly. Got a newer Dell laptop. Windows 10. Problem is when I hit the power button, this thing refuses to come on 9 times out of 10. Ran across a web page that suggested I take out the battery, unplug the power adapter, and press the power button for 30 seconds, thereby clearing the system of power. It's supposed to help get rid of the small static buildup inside the computer...

Using Windows 10. On a Dell Insprion 15 laptop. It's new. When I'm on battery, ever so often the screen just turns off. Was curious if anyone would now why. :/

So I got a good deal on a notebook at a local pawn shop. Using it now. The shop had upgraded it to Windows 10. When I got it home I did a complete factory reset and that reinstalled Windows 8.1. Now since the free upgrade to 10 is over with, does anyone know if I can go back to 10 for free somehow?

Too many choices on Google, so I thought to ask my friends here. I'm looking for a program that will take an exact image of my hard drive that can be restored after replacing the hard drive or a system crash that can't be recovered. Basically a program that will allow be to boot up via USB stick, then copy the image to the hard drive, then, like magic, everything works like it did when it was backed up. Easy to use is a plus. Thanks guys.
