I was curious if anyone knew of any software that will allow me to select a bunch of photos and rename them all in one operation. I want to rename a bunch of photos by number but don't want to do it one by one. Too time consuming.

Irfanview ... Xnview ... Fastone. All three have batch rename capability. There's probably a lot more but these are the three that come to mind.

Infanview sounds good. Used it before for other purposes. I'll have to look up how it does the batch renaming.

I use Thumbs Plus Pro. It is retail, not shareware or freeware. It does batch renaming and a whole lot more.

I also recommend Irfanview. I use it for the exact same purpose, also with some resizing mixed in. You can set it up to do a batch job for just about anything, renaming included. All you have to do is add ### at the end of the name, and it'll rename and number every image selected.

If you use any batch file renamer... but those mentioned already should suffice.

Well, if you have a Linux version with KDE, simply use KRename ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KRename )...

The "too time consuming" is the main reason why i use Linux for "work" and windows for game ( dual boot )...

Well, there is a tiny software called "Batch File Renamer" who can make the job : http://download.cnet.com/Batch-File-Renamer/3000-2094_4-11655280.html

Fastone works very well for me. It's free and also comes with a ton of other options/tools and is very easy to use. It's also updated frequently.
