I remember the old days. I was a young teen, watching MTV. Back then all they showed was videos all day, every day. The only thing you had to worry about was Mom catching you watching the videos becuase your Mom thought the music would rot your brain.

Being rasied on nothing but country music, watching MTV rock videos was a way out of listening to country and a way to express myself differently.

But my have times changed.

MTV today is so different it is hard to recognize MTV. With shows like Cribs, TRL, and The Real World I wonder if someone in MTV's office has gone metal.

For starters, If I wanted to see a rich persons house all I have to do is take a virtual tour of Mr. Gates house. I mean, who really cares about rich people's houses? All it does is make you mad. All that money and they waste it on mansions that have rooms they will never use. There are better things to watch!

And then my problem with TRL. Yes I love it that they count down the top 10 videos of the day but they never show the whole video and I can live without seeing Britney Spears everyday. Besides, I hate commercials as well.

As for the Real World show, well if I wanted to see a bunch of strangers trying to get along I would choose to watch Big Brother.

Point being that MTV has sucked now for a long time. It is true you can get digital cable or extended satelite service and get MTV2 and watch videos but why? VH1 shows alot more music than MTV.

I think it is time we reduce MTV to the bare bones, video playing channel it once was.

On the flipside I must give credit to MTV for a few shows I like such as Beavis and Butthead. They cancled that show as well, damn them.
