So I see they came out with a tablet that runs Windows 8. I was just curious if they think they have a chance to carve out a section in the tablet market when Android owns most of the market. Apple tried with the iPad and failed. Good luck Microsoft.

I'm sure you know that you don't really own all those songs on Itunes and I think same case goes for all those applications you have from I app store or whatever it is called. You only have licence to use them personally.

Like it or not, Apple makes good hardware and software, has a great app ecosystem, and is easy to use.

Exactly. I also hope Microsoft succeeds equally... and leaves real room for customization.

yes, i do.

but i am not sure that you know the same is true for the Microsoft store, Google Play or Amazon as well. even for a rising number (if not most) of desktop applications.

nice try

Most of the guys having an ipad3 just want to show of to their friends honestly i know poeple using it for work, while i know more people having them and do nothing with it, they have it to show of their "social status" / and they buy a new one as soon as there is another version/NUMBER out, without even knowing that there is basically no improvements made to it. And i think the guys that want to show of their social status or want to belong to a group especially teens in this category are affected more by the hype than by the products ability itself. DID that even make sense ? i hope so

this is partly true.

should actually be on top of all that feature compare lists:

iPad - girls like it

other tablet - makes you look like a nerd

make your choice

make your choice

Exactly. Make YOUR choice.
Never choose something just because others like it. That makes you a braindead idiot.

Here are some facts: http://ymobileblog.com/blog/2010/05/06/apple-ipad-user-analysis/

Most relevant:

So, no matter which population you look at, Males buy more iPads.

Sexism won't fly, and "iPad - girls like it" was meant to be insulting or demeaning by innuendo. You were incorrect to do that. Your statement was inaccurate by stereotyping, and also by the facts. "Other tablet makes you look like a nerd." is demeaning and insulting as well. Whichever tablet a community member chooses he/she is subject to derision. Perhaps rephrase what you wrote?

The RT is 'locked' to apps-only.

So you can't even install things like Firefox? That's not right.

Island Dog
The iPad is failed? LOL

The iPad has nearly a 60% tablet marketshare.

Yet it can't even do something as simple as run Flash. As for your numbers can you post a link? Last time I checked Android had a pretty big slice of the pie.

That may be true. The fact still remains that Apple products cost way too much.

Nah, Doc...I reckon "iPad - girls like it" is why so many guys buy them....hoping to impress the girls....

Actually, the sad thing is those poor bastards who have been so intoxicated by the advertising hype and 'image' that they will waste days of their lives in a queue just so they can be an 'early adopter'.

That's the insidious power of marketing....not an actual GOOD product.

IF they were GOOD they would not suddenly discover [with the iphone 5] that a thumb's reach means they magically now fit a bigger screen.  That's UTTER BULLSHIT ...they are playing catch-up with Androids because the 4 had penis-issues of inferiority.

Didn't measure up.

you interpret this statistic wrong.

of course males buy more iPads. males buy more Samsung Galaxy tabs (and more Ferraris or Porsches) as well. maybe females buy more Kindles, but that device is more an ebook reader than a tablet.

i am pretty sure that females buy more iPads than Android devices.

my statement was a little ironic. i actually agree with Rolocolor that more expensive devices are bought as a status symbol. and there is nothing wrong with that. most things that men do are done to impress females. and most females are attracted by potent men.

i can see that is can be interpreted as insulting in the western societies you and i live in. our politically correct, "white", gender equality mainstream society is a shrinking minority anyways and more or less ridiculed worldwide (i travel at least twice a year).

New figures are out regarding the mobile subscriber market share in the U.S. and as always it’s interesting to particularly look at the Android vs. iPhone market share. In the quarter ending in July 2012, Google’s Android share stood at 52.2% against Apple’s 33.4% with both gaining ground although Apple’s share increase was slightly higher.

Don't forget the problems they had with the camera.

Flash is no longer supported by the latest version of Android as well.

the Metro/modern version of Internet Explorer does support Flash only for certain, approved websites.

Adobe does no longer develop Flash Player for mobile browsers.

Flash is a technology from the last decade. and consumes far to much battery for mobile devices. i certainly don't miss it. i heard p..n-sites still use it a lot, but hey ... on such a small screen ... wouldn't really make sense anyways.

here's the link you wanted: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/worldwide-market-share-tablet-systems-215958318--finance.html

you are probably confusing tablets with smartphones.

on Oct 30, 2012

Facebook still uses Flash for games. I don't use Internet Explorer and never will. No I am not confusing smartphones with tablets. Apple products are still ridiculously overpriced.
