It's taken me awhile to start this thread, sorry. I know this may end up in flame wars. Again I am sorry.

So everyone knows my situation. Well those close to me on this site do. My computer is finally showing signs of how old it truly is. Keep in mind my computer has a Pentium 4 processor so I am guessing this setup to be almost ten years old. The problem, even after a few friends helped me here with a new hard drive and more memory, is the rest of the system. The processor can't keep up with the newer operating systems. I'm having a hard time just running XP. Found out the other day my DVD Burner drive is almost dead as it will read disc sometimes and other times it will not. Monitor is on it's last legs as well. Hard to read anything and the brightness is going out. It's an old CRT Dell monitor that is almost as old as the tower.

As Starkers had told you this computer is my main way to communicate with the things that are important in my life. So I was hoping someone out there had a few newer parts I could install to extend the life of the machine a bit. Nothing special. I already have DDR2 memory and a newer hard drive. Just need a few other things.

So carry on. Discuss I guess.

Well , I guess Uvah does not read between the lines

. I said might . I also told him, Uvah, I spent my wb subsciption money, and he responds, instead, buy OD, when I have spent the cash. I Went over board and got Kona a little something xtra and that put me back farther than expected, but I felt good the whole time, so not a complaint, HONESTLY, .

So, I actually was hoping we could pool together  somehow and just send the 17inch from tiger.

So, if anyone wants to throw in a buck or two, we could probably get that in no time. I have a paypal, although I am not familiar with the process, or if someone more up to date on how it works, maybe we could pool that way. I know , times are tough for all ,  so this is just a thought, and not the first time suggested, but no pressure or reasons why not, just if you can, lets. I sit tight a bit and see what comes before I go collecting pop cans to do it alone, LOL.

I will have to not eat lunch at work for two weeks if I have to buy it myself, and I am skinny as heck already, keep me from perishing, please contribute!

I don't? Gee.....maybe I need to wind up the rubber band a little tighter so my flashlight can see more. At any rate, DT....you worry too much. Been around long enough so that words don't bother me worth a s**t. You're a part of this family now so suck it up an have some jelly beans. And don't go making no public apology. Buy a round of cold ones instead...like this. Ya did good dude.

@ Kona.....It is my hope that all of this will bring a smile to your face and help you beat the bugs that are keeping you down. Feel better.

Overtime rocks

I had some of those once. They're like super balls. Just don't let them bounce more than once 'cause the second bounce sends them into orbit.

Any suggestions on where to look for a used or rebuilt monitor ,extremely cheap, I looked at Tiger, some dell site, and 3btech, not much there.

You have the 13". Just sayin'

on Jan 19, 2013

I don't mind a 13". Anything is better than this dinosaur CRT. As for cost of a bigger LCD I did a search and you can get one as low as $10 with free shipping if you do eBay. Otherwise they start at $60.

Never have, but if they take credit cards , I would love to help you out man, any specific link?

on Jan 19, 2013

You would have to sign up with eBay. Most everybody takes credit cards. And when you buy it you would need to tell them to ship it here. Try this:

15" Monitors:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/Monitors-Projectors-Accs-/162497/i.html?_sop=15&_from=R40&_nkw=15+inch+LCD+monitor&rt=nc&LH_BIN=1

Sort the list by lowest price + shipping and buy it now then look for ones that have been tested and have free shipping. Should find a few no more than $30 dollars.

on Jan 19, 2013

Kona, you should get a job finding stuff, your good at it.

I will confirm after the email, but:

You should be getting a 15inch e152FPB15"LCD with cord tested around after the 25th shipping claimed. So, unless you need cpu grease, your good to go, AND ENJOY.

Just FYI:

I would have spent 20 or 25 to send the 13 inch, got the 15 inch for 32 bucks, shipped. Now I do not need a box! [e digicons]:')[/e]

on Jan 19, 2013

I take that back, You might need some fans!

on Jan 19, 2013

Yeah I am not sure if anyone is sending a CPU cooler. I thought someone was, could be wrong.
