Just as many here have thought.

Is it just me or is no one mentioning the issue of software over-acceleration???
Games and Win8 don't get along easily.
Just you....
I remember once running Space Invaders by emulation on a 'high end' computer.....the trick was to see IF you could get even one shot off before they were all at the bottom....
Depends on the game...
I couldn't install SMAC/X on W7 (64 bit) because apparently that game installs via a 16 bit installer (which W7 64x didn't have)...I was able to play the game by just copying the files to the hard drive, but there were issues with saving settings...
I can however install it on W8 (64 bit) no problem...that might be because I have W8 pro whereas my W7 was probably not pro version, but some research suggested it was a problem with all W7 64x...
I'm sure other games though would be absolute nightmares...I can't imagine what SimCity 2000 on max speed would be like...
Is that with original disks? I re-purchased SMAC/X from GoG about 6 months ago, and didn't have too many issues getting it up and running. Believe there was one thing I had to do to see graphics correctly. (forgot what that was now though)
Yes that was with the original disks...
I currently have 2 disks (sold my 3rd), one is just the game and one is like some edition that includes the patches on the disk (so basically, different autorun) and neither worked...even when I tried running the setup directly with every possible administrator/compatibility setting, it did not work....
It doesn't surprise me though if GoG copies (is that the right word?) work....
