Just as many here have thought.

Surprise, surprise. People don't want to interact with a desktop/laptop like a tablet.
Yep , as a matter of fact , Chris Hoffman over at "How-to Geeks" just wrote a scathing column on how after a year of trying, he hates Windows 8.

I have said as much well before the current Failboat sank at the dock that it woul drag every OEM it could down with it.

Hey remember when the NPDs retail numbers for PC gaming dropped and it was the death knell for the entire industry? Nevermind they didn't count digital sales at all?
Yeah, that was great.
W8 is fine for tablets/phones... to a point. For desktops? The productivity drop off is ridiculous. If the individual needs to use the tablet for productive multi-app work, the only way it works is with Modern Mix...
If anything will save W8 it'll be that app. Too bad MS isn't pushing it to advance W8 sales... or even including it with the OS or at the OEM level. They'd see a marked difference in sales.
Of course. But why would anyone (not involved in gaming or code/asset production) need a new PC anymore? To get better FPS in Freecell? Think they'll get better transfer speeds off their hard drive, their USB2 equipment? Is the market even pushing USB3 at all?
There's so much amazing new tech due in the 2014-2015 timeframe it's not even funny. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy a new PC now. I would recommend 8, but for most people it's no different from 7. There's no driving need to upgrade software or hardware.
Just once I'd love to see people tell MS to take a hike by not buying into the "latest greatest OS" every time a new one comes out, Especially till they get it right and work out "All" or at least most the security flaws "before" sending it to market. There's always just to much hype in these commercials I see selling this cow and the greed shows after it comes out.
I can't help but laugh when everyone who was so sold on the last OS trashes it as soon as a new one comes out. XP being a good example...and I'm not saying 7 was bad or anything like that...it works...but XP works just as good...and I saved hundreds by not buying into the hype.
great another topic i´ve read the article and i always have to laugh ... a good example is this You Will Boot to Metro, and You Will Like It reminded me of NO other Browser for you NEVER I wonder if he took the time to think it out before posting... If you boot up windows what is it you do first ?Here is what I do: I check my emails i logon to skype or instant messenger i may check the weather reports and want to know whats is happening in the world...YES and i can do all that on the metro interface the live apps allow me to see if i have mail i can spot news without even opening the app and the weather aswell. And i dont have to klick nothing to get that info no click requiredI might be to retarded to understand that metro is wasting my time and i would be better of opening all those progs on the desktop. Its like the guy doesn´t have a win key on his keyboard... seriously or is unable to make that single klick on the desktop tile. That is without SD apps.NO! One klick is to much!... but opening all these progs manualy is easier for sure... yeah i know autostart exists but still the world is not ending bc you have do an extra click for your old desktop.I could understand all that windows8 is bad "mimimimi" if they locked you out of it ! COMPLETELY !But i can not accept it if you have to do a single click more. GET MODERNMIX AND START8 DAMNIT but leave Britney alone !App market quality over quantity comment: What does the guy expect Word for free? Photoshop 3dmax apps for free? There is tons of not good desktop programs out there of course there will be also some modern apps that are not good while the good stuff will have a price tag.
Win8 didnt stop people from buying PC´s at all -Most folks hate windows8 or stay away from buying a bundle PC of propaganda or are not willing to buy it bc they have windows7 or bc they are scared of what the neighbour told them about 8 while he is using XP. ( AHHHH sorry WebGizmo you posted in between this is not directed at you !) OMG im glad i rechecked lol...I could go on and on about this but in the end i wouldnt change the fact that some folks just dont like windows8But all that drama... sorry no offense but the title pushed me...In The End I see it this way- It´s not as Bad as Some make it, its just as BAD as your able to control it.I say if you don´t use Metro or hate it stay with 7 if you are on XP and want a cheap upgrade go for 8 and get Start and ModernMix. You will save money and have the exact same as you do in win7.
No harm done Roloccolor...I got thick skin. I just get a chuckle out of peoples reasoning sometimes for buying a new pc...especially they buy into the hype and get burned. I have 7 and like I said it works...but I'm still just as happy with XP...and if I could afford a new graphics card for it I'd be using it.
That's what's currently happening.
For programs like Photoshop and Lightroom as well as other complex image processing, for example.
I like windows 8 my self. I use it just like windows 7. The only time I see the start menu is when I am opening a program. just like any other version of windows.
I do not use apps. I use the same full programs I used with windows 7. ie' photoshop' games' vue' daz3d' VB' and so on. The first thing I did was uninstall all the applets when I installed win8.
I do not understand what people are talking about having to have touch to move around on the new start screen. I have it organized just like every other version of windows I have ever used.
The only different is the icons are bigger and I can find my programs easier I'm getting older and my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. lol
But that's just me I like it I know others don't. Now if I was forced to use the start screen with out the desktop that would be a different story' it would be Linux time for me. I use it for my home server all ready. so using it as my desktop os would not be to hard to get used to.
This article doesn't do anything for me at all...
We have a statistic, the decline in PC sales...the problem is, what part of that decline is due to W8 and what part is due to other factors? All this article states is that some entity thinks W8 is part of the problem....how much of the PC decline is due to tablets/phones or other factors, and how much is due to W8?
W8 probably is part of the problem....but how much of the problem is what's important...not adding to PC shares is a lot different than negatively impacting PC sales...
