So I have this strange issue. I go into settings and choose a custom picture for my lock screen. The next time I wake the computer up from sleeping it still shows a different picture, usually one of the stock photos that come with Windows 10. So I go back into settings and change it again, make sure it's all set, yet the picture never shows up. I've tried this with several pictures, none of them work, it always reverts to one of the stock photos. Not sure what to search for on Google so I thought I would ask here.

Is it possible you have it sync'd with another device in Win10 settings? I don't know exactly how that's done or undone, but I've seen it create that kind of confusion here.

One other thing occurs to me -

If you're loading the image from an external drive, that might screw it up.  Try copying it to an internal drive and loading it from there.

Yeah I have Windows 10 synced to my MS account. Not sure how to turn that off. And the image is on the hard drive in the pictures folder.

I'm not at all sure sync is the problem, but if you want to have a look at it this should do it:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/about-windows-backup-and-sync-settings-deebcba2-5bc0-4e63-279a-329926955708#WindowsVersion=Windows_10

I'm not familiar with it, but if you don't want to turn it all off it looks like you can have some settings sync'd and turn off others.  I did see Lock Screen included in their list from the "Windows 10 roaming settings reference" link on that page.

Good luck, I fear this may be a case of the blind leading the blind.
