On Shutdown of Vista I see for 5 seconds - SCHTASKS.EXE failed to initialize - then it disappears and machine shuts down. No other problems observedusing the machine. Appreciate any help in solving this Error message!!!

Recently got me a Compaq Evo 510 small form factor system. Even though it has a P4 running at 2.4 GHz and 512 MB of DDR memory and a 533 FSB this machine is slow and I'm running Windows 2000 SP4 as that is what it came with. My copy of XP came with my Dell so it stays with the Dell - will not work on other machines -OEM copy. So anyone know how to get this thing running better? I've already tweaked the BIOS settings. Everything is running on Ultra DMA mode. Thanks in advance...

Take a look at these 2 Screen shots: This is a shot of my linux desktop. I am using Firefox to view Wincustomize.com. NOTE the font used. This is a shot again of Wincustomize using XP and IE. NOTE the font looks normal? HOW do I get Firefox to display WC EXACTLY like IE does?

I have a small problem. Every so often while booting my machine I get a blue screen of death and then the system reboots. It happens so fast I can't read what the error is. I changed a few things in my BIOS and it would finally boot. Actually the only thing I changed was the memory timing resulting in OC my RAM. Guess I will have to fix that. So how do you find out if your mobo is dying? I'm running Windows XP Pro with SP2 (Yes I'm using SP2 finally) and I have 512 megs of DDR RAM.

So I have tried Fedora Core 3 and didn't care for it much! What I am looking for is a easy to use for a noob linux distro that has a easy to use apt get function and is easy to learn. I'm looking into Gentoo and SimplyMepis - should I be looking into any other Distros?

Well I now have no Microsoft products running on the PC - I switched to Fedora Core 3 Linux. Overall I am very happy with it! I am even impressed with Firefox! Of course I still have XP on a different partition. Any advice from anyone about running Linus/Firefox?
