I have decided to start a new thread about this issue rather than further derail the other thread where we were talking about this. I recently received a new DVD-RW drive courtesy of a friend here. After turning off the computer I removed the old drive. The old drive was the only IDE device on the system. I installed the new drive. The new drive uses the SATA interface. After powering on the computer I went into the BIOS settings. BIOS confirms the new drive is connected. I am also able to...
Interesting article. Thought I would share. http://semiaccurate.com/2012/09/24/an-update-on-apple-moving-away-from-intel/

So I see they came out with a tablet that runs Windows 8. I was just curious if they think they have a chance to carve out a section in the tablet market when Android owns most of the market. Apple tried with the iPad and failed. Good luck Microsoft.
Reset the veiw in "My Computer" to have things listed by DVD drives, Hard drives, removable media, etc. This is how it looks now and I know it's not normal. Usually everything is separated by lines and devices.
So I have this big music collection of around 3K MP3 files. Some of the tags are not right. So instead of wasting hours looking for the proper tag does anyone know of a program that will sort all of this out and is very easy to use? I have already tried MusicBrainz Picard. Too complicated. Let me know, thanks!
Got quite an issue here on my hands. Computer will not play any sound. Under device manager the sound card is listed and Windows says it's working properly. Yet under sound in control panel it says no audio device. How can I fix this? I have tried installing the proper driver from my computer maker's website and I even tried system restore. Nothing has worked. Before I reinstall Windows I thought I would seek help first. Thanks!
So I use iTunes when I am using Windows. Right now I'm on a clean install of XP SP3 along with the latest version of iTunes. Every time I have music playing in the background the music will skip. This happens when I start up Firefox on reload a page on run any other program. I have 4 GB of DDR2 on the machine along with a newer 500 GB hard drive. At first I thought the drive wasn't keeping up with my usage. Maybe it's my CPU because it's a 2.9 GHz single core CPU. I have no idea ...
Just got an Xbox. I am aware a few of our users have one so I had a few questions. Is there a way to have the Xbox show me what games have been played and for how long like the Wii shows? Do I really need to have the Xbox online to use the system? Thanks!
So I'm using an old Pentium 4 setup until I can get something better. Get this it uses DDR2-3200. Hard to find type of memory. So I was curious if DDR2-4200 would work. By the way does anyone have any memory they can part with? I'm only running with 512MB right now.

A potential trademark dispute has forced Microsoft to drop the Metro name for Windows 8's blocky, tile-based interface. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19108952
So here's the deal: I'll open my start menu, type something I'm looking for in the box, then the computer will try to open another window to show the search results yet it disappears when trying to open. Can it be fixed? Virus, spyware, malware scans come up clean.
It seems the icons within the jump lists that pop up when right clicking a program icon on the taskbar have all disappeared. All there is when I right click is a list of recent documents in text, no icon. How do I get the icons back?
I can hear my notebook's fan quite clearly while the notebook is on. It's really loud. It has a AMD processor. I thought that AMD processors fans run a bit quieter than this. What can I do? Any software to install? There is no setting in BIOS for the fan, none in the software that came with the notebook. Just curious if this if a defect.
